Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
Dr. Miguel Jimenez, MD

Dr. Jimenez has been treating spine problems in the Atlanta area for more than 23 years. He trained in orthopedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic and completed a spine fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
He sees patients in English and Spanish, takes patients without a referral, and treats a substantial number of people who were injured in car accidents.
Training
Doctor of Medicine — University of Rochester
Rochester, New York · 1993
Orthopedic Surgery Residency — Mayo Clinic
Rochester, Minnesota · 1996–2000
Spine Fellowship — Hospital for Special Surgery
New York, New York · 2001–2002
A spine fellowship is a year of subspecialty training taken after a full orthopedic residency. It’s the difference between a surgeon who treats the spine among other things and one who spent an additional year doing nothing else.
How he practises
Dr. Jimenez handles the whole pathway himself — the history, the examination, the decision about imaging, injections, and surgery when it’s genuinely the right answer. When you speak with him, you’re speaking with the person who would be treating you.
His starting position is the least invasive thing likely to work. Most spine problems, including most accident injuries, are managed without an operation, and a great deal of what he does is conservative care and image-guided injections rather than surgery.
The corollary matters just as much. A surgeon who is capable of operating is also the person best placed to tell you when you shouldn’t. A lot of his patients arrive braced for bad news and leave with a plan that doesn’t involve an operation — and if that’s your situation, he’ll say so directly rather than leaving you to wonder.
“A great surgeon balances confidence with caution, innovation with evidence-based practice, and skill with compassion — always putting the patient’s long-term well-being first.”

Atención en español
Dr. Jimenez speaks Spanish and sees patients in Spanish. So does our staff.
For a lot of the people we treat, being able to describe what happened and what hurts in their own language isn’t a convenience — it’s the difference between a useful appointment and an approximate one.

What patients say

Dr. Jimenez and his staff were invaluable during a very difficult time. After a car accident injury, Dr. Jimenez provided me the best of care and walked me through all my options related to my injuries and healing process. He also provided crucial assistance regarding the processing of my legal case and kept me informed of updates while providing all necessary information to my attorney. In addition to his outstanding services and patient support, the office is designed to make the patients feel comfortable before or after treatment. Coffee and tea are available and Alondra is incredibly friendly at the desk. I highly recommend this practice and team and can confirm they will provide the support needed in every way.

Dr. Jimenez is a so much experienced doctor. He is always kind to his patients and sincerely takes care of them. I had a shoulder & neck problem after a huge car accident, and they are healed after his treatment. I am glad to have him as my doctor, and strongly recommend visiting him if you got injured.
